Social Insurance Number (SIN)

The SIN is formatted as three groups of three digits as NNN NNN NNN. A social insurance number (SIN) is issued in Canada to administer various government programs. SINs are issued by Employment and Social Development Canada.
Business Number (BN)
For Entities, VAT, Example: 325-456-788
The Canadian business number (BN) is a 9-digit account number formatted as NNN-NNN-NNN that identifies a business to Canadian federal, provincial, and municipal governments. The BN is issued by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). The 9-digit number can be followed by two letters (program identifier) and 4 digits (reference number) to form a program account (or BN15).
